September 2009
Well that's our first day over with
Yes, that's our 24th episode of the podcast now available to download. 24 hours (ish) of purile nonsense from two Glaswegian podcasting goons.
I've been receiving a few emails recently via the site from fellow lovers of Glasgow, who find the podcast via the Top Ten Glasgow Guide and listen to the podcast because they enjoy the accent and dialect on display.
I think therefore, that to be fair to Glasgow, I should take this opportunity to clarify that not everyone in the City spouts purile nonsense like this whenever they speak. Some people here are actually quite erudite and can hold conversations about many important things, like politics, the legalities of war, the release of Libyan bombers and such like, in a way that reveals nothing but a deeply serious understanding of the issues at hand.
But if, like me, you don't like those kind of people and much prefer hearing nothing but purile nonsense, feel free to keep on listening every fortnight to our tragic little podcast, and I promise you won't be disappointed.
Yours aye.

Another completion - it must be the weather
OK, so I mentioned that the restaurant section was next on my little tragic hit list of things to do on the site, but once again I got sidetracked, and have trotted out a wee section on flatsharing in Glasgow.
Basically, flatsharing is becoming a great deal more popular in the City these days, and given the regulation and quality now built into this type of accommodation, no longer can it be associated with the old 1970s style barking landlord and grubby student lodger.
More and more people in Glasgow are saving money on rental by sharing with others, or by letting out spare rooms in their house to make some extra cash on the side, taking advantage of some tax savings while they're at it.
So feel free to have a wee look, hit the sparerooms site I introduce you to, and see if it seems like something you'd be interested in.

Dah-dah...Another section completed
Remember what I said at the tail end of last year? The whole thing about running naked down Buchanan Street if I didn't get some sections of the site completed by the end of 2009?
Well, it's September, and I've finally got round to finalising the section on getting around Glasgow, with the addition of the guide on the Glasgow sightseeing tours.
Next stop therefore, the restaurant section, failing which get your cameras at the ready as I strip off in public (or some blankets, whatever would make you feel more comfortable about the whole situation...).

Armadillo Ice Sculpture? Must've been the Vodka
Last weekend saw the launch in Glasgow and elsewhere in the UK of the new Smirnoff Green Apple and Smirnoff Lime drinks, and to mark the occasion here, a fantastic replica of Glasgow's iconic landmark, the Armadillo, was unveiled just outside the Buchanan Galleries, measuring 8 metres long by 2.4 metres high.
Apparently it took 4 men about 5 hours to sculpt what weighed in the end about 2.5 tonnes and contained 100 pieces of lime and apple.
Unfortunately I missed the event but I've posted a photo and you can see more images of the Glasgow event and also the others around the UK by clicking the link here.
Tracey's already earmarked a few bottles of the new flavours for her regular cocktail night, and I've no doubt I'll give them a try soon.

Give it up for Saint Mungo
Another page down on the attractions section in the site, this time about the Glasgow Cathedral, a building once declared as a place of pilgrimage only Rome could equal, and recognised widely as the high point in the construction of cathedrals in Europe.
Have a read here about its place in the history of Glasgow.
