Aw Aboot Me!

Learn why I bother with this whole
Top Ten Glasgow Guide thing...

Scott Docherty - that's me...

Well hello there!

That's a picture of me in a beautifully snow-ridden Queens Park in Glasgow. Posing, now there's a shocker.

My name's Scott Docherty, and I'm the culprit for writing this wee Top Ten Glasgow Guide. I hope that you enjoy your time at the site and take away with you at least a few things that interest you about my home town.

I live in the Southside of the City with my wife Tracey (she was happy to marry me in 2002, and that's despite the abject tragedy of my Groom's Speech for which the whole family's still in counselling!). My 9 to 5 job is as a Partner in an extremely busy Law Firm, which explains why the site pretty much grows at the rate of a sleeping tortoise. Imagine Carl Lewis racing against a filing cabinet, and you'll get the general idea!

When I do get the chance to work on the site, you'll see that I'm pretty passionate about Glasgow. I travel the world as much as I can and as my bank balance permits, but have just never felt the desire to live anywhere other than here. The reason for that is that in recent times, Glasgow's been changing for the better. She's had the mettle to recognise that cities don't magnetise tourists by relying solely on their clichéd reputation, the narrowing confines of their architecture. She's smacked herself hard on her soot-cracked face, yanked up her deteriorating frame, dusted off the debris from generations of social retrenchment, and powered unlike any other City in the world back down the road to enrichment.

I mean don't get me wrong, of course there's work still to be done here, but I'm lucky enough to live somewhere that understands this & keeps at it, and it's because of this that I know we'll get there, because we've still got the grafting kinship, banter and urban ingenuity it once took to build Glasgow into the Second City of the Empire. And I kid you not, to walk the streets these days & experience this monumental regeneration, the development taking root from one day to the next, really is nothing short of breathtaking.

(And of course don't forget there's the pubs & restaurants - let's get our priorities sorted!)

Yup, that's me posing yet again!

But that's why I do this. That's why I got all fired up & chose to start my wee guide, to give you a flavour of what you're missing out on, why you should book your ticket here right now & not look back (and for the avoidance of doubt, I don't work for the tourist industry!).

If you want to learn how I've taken my passion for Glasgow and built this wee site which pulls in thousands of visitors a month as well as regular cash, even while I sleep or go about my day, have a look here for starters and feel free to contact me for more info.

But enough of all that. Stop reading about me - I'm really not that interesting - pour out a wee dram, settle down, forget absolutely everything you've ever heard about this Dear Green Place, and spend a while on the site. If you need a nudge in the right direction on anything about Glasgow after all that, don't hesitate to use the contact form and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Arrabest tae ye!
