Got my cheap flight from Glasgow to Vegas

Cheap Flight Glasgow Virgin That's me off for a few weeks to Vegas. Using my wee top ten guide here to getting cheap flights from Glasgow and back, I managed to find myself a superb Virgin flight deal from Glasgow to Vegas, leaving me a few spare greens to spend at the slots (or more than likely in the shops, if Tracey has anything to do with it).

So don't take it personally if you don't get a reply to any of your messages while I'm away - I'll be spending my time instead turning slightly less blue in the Nevada desert heat, and the rest of the time eating myself into a happy stupor (I do love the USA food portions. Shall I wrap up your leftovers for you sir? - No thanks, just give me some more time, I'll finish this yet. Just open my shirt buttons for me a little...

I'll catch y'all on the flip side therefore, when I'm suitably refreshed and raring to finish, well, even one more page on the site before Christmas. Yeah whatever...

Europe's eyes on Glasgow tonight

Hampden Park GlasgowI'll be in the pub as I didn't get a ticket, but tonight just down from where I live Hampden Park Glasgow will be hosting the UEFA Cup Final 2007 between Espanyol and Sevilla.

Last night I witnessed a pretty mad invasion from the Spanish in George Square, similar to when the Celtic fans descended on the squares and streets of Seville back in 2003 when we reached the final. Apparently about 40,000 Spanish fans have travelled here to watch the game, and if the TV audience from previous finals is anything to go by, you can make a sure fire bet that Europe's eyes will be fixed sharply on Glasgow tonight.

I've attached a link to a wee history of Euro finals at Hampden Park, which has always been famous for its Hampden Roar given the huge number of energised fans you used to be able to pack in like sardines through its gates (it still boasts the world record attendance for both international and club matches, a breathtaking 149,415 and 147,365 respectively, and used to be the biggest stadium in the world).

It should be a good night, that it unless you support whoever loses of course, but for Glasgow it should end up being yet another example of our ability to host major world events, something I hope gets picked up by the Commonwealth Games committee...

Hampden Park Stadium GlasgowHampden will also be hosting the Scottish Cup Final a week on Saturday between Celtic and Dunfermline, and I'm almost certain that I can blag myself some hospitality tickets for it. Cup final days at Hampden are always a great laugh, and despite the stadium capacity having been reduced for safety reasons, when the place is packed the atmosphere is still one of the best in the world.

You should try and catch either of the games on TV if you can, and head to the stadium if you'll be visiting here, as you can get a pretty decent tour of the ground and also get into the popular Scottish Football Museum. If you do the tour and museum it'll cost you about 8.50GBP or less for children, and you'll be treated to over 2,500 exhibits and 14 galleries outlining how important Scotland was in bringing football to the rest of the world. To know the history of Scottish football is to know how football itself began, so it's a must if you're a crazy fanatic of the game like me.
