March 2009

Out of hiding - Glasgow Cathedral Precinct

I've not actually completed the section on it yet, but it's come to my attention that at this point, if you type the words 'glasgow cathedral precinct' into Google, my new page on it is already at number 2 in the search results.

Who knows how that's happened, but now that the cat's out the bag, here's the link to the page. I'm still not finished the whole thing yet, so I'd love to hear whether you think my rant about sectarianism in Glasgow is a bit too heavy, or otherwise if you think it's fine.

I hope to complete the whole section soon and will of course let you know.

Progress. What did I tell you?

Eilean Donan CastleMarch 2009 is turning out to be one of the most productive months I've had on the site for quite some time.

I've just polished off a new page in the travelling around Glasgow section. Only one more to go before it's complete...

This one's about booking a more personalised Glasgow tour, and introduces you to, for me, the best company in Glasgow for that. Booking a bespoke tour of Glasgow and also of Scotland beyond will give you more out of our Country than doing it any other way.

You're escorted around the place in comfort, based on your own needs and desires, and doing it this way will make it more likely that your memories will end up a little more special.

The Premier Inn Charing Cross Glasgow

The Premier inn Charing Cross GlasgowSo what sets the Premier Inn Charing Cross Glasgow Hotel apart from the rest?

It does exactly as it says on the tin - great location, standard cleanliness and customer service across the board, good night's rest, reasonably-priced restaurant - I've never had a second thought about booking a Premier Inn, and after staying here I hope you agree.

Just make sure Lenny Henry's not in the next room...

How about the Jurys Inn Glasgow?

Visit the Jurys Inn Glasgow HotelThis is a massive slice of cool in the City Centre of Glasgow.

You can always rely on a Jury's being where you want it and how you want it, and the Jurys Inn Glasgow on Jamaica Street is no exception to the rule.

Take a look around the place using the link here, and from all the reviews about the hotel you'll see here, you'll soon understand why it makes it very easily onto my Top Ten list of the best hotels in Glasgow.

Thistle Glasgow Hotel

Stay at the Thistle Glasgow HotelNow that the hotel section is up and running, how's about filling it up with some decent places to stay?

I've completed a wee introductory page on the Thistle Glasgow Hotel, which is a long-standing favourite in the City - perfect location for Sauchiehall Street, Buchanan Street and even ideal for spotting local celebrities (and not just me, that is. Ahem...).

Enjoy your stay at Thistle, and feel free to send me your comments if you do.

New Hotel Glasgow Section

Search the best hotels in GlasgowAs promised, here's a wee section on booking the best hotels in Glasgow.

I've done a whack of research into the favourite Glasgow hotels based on number of bookings, reviews, facilities and so on, so hopefully you'll have plenty of choice to suit your stay in the City.

But hey, it's not all about me. If you don't agree with my selection of the Top Ten hotels in Glasgow, I've also included a handy wee search form which will search all the top places to stay in Glasgow. Anything else, as always just let me know.

Now that was a task and a half

I've just finished a complete overhaul of the site.

You won't really see any benefits to be honest because it was all in the background, although if you use Google Chrome or other newer browsers (including the fresh-out-the-box Internet Explorer 8 which I downloaded today) you might see now that the headline of each page no longer consumes more space than a big scary monster-type thing.

As for progress you can see, and we all know that seeing is believing - or was it the other way around - it's coming. That's all I can say for now. Completed restaurants section, completed travel around Glasgow section, completed Glasgow Cathedral Precinct section, completed hotel Glasgow section.

No sweat - we'll get there in no time...

Red Nose Day - that's a relief

The new podcast is now available to download, and I hope you enjoy it.

There's stuff in there about Comic Relief 2009, and if you manage to push past all of Alan's anti-charity tirades, don't forget to donate on rednoseday.com or by texting CLIMB to 88808 if you're in the UK.
