My usual top ten!

The Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport might look a little drab from the M8 Motorway it looms over, but in my mind, when you're just looking for a bit of well-catered for R & R before or after your flight, more than likely this hotel will have what you need.

2. Directions - From Glasgow and the East exit the M8 Motorway at Junction 28 and simply follow the hotel signs. From Greenock and the West, leave the M8 Motorway at Junction 29 and follow the slip road which leads directly to the Hotel.

3. Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport facilities - 298 Guest Rooms, 2 Suites, 149 Non-Smoking Rooms, 171 Double-Bedded Rooms, 8 Single-Bedded Rooms, 9 Floors, 1 Restaurant, A/C Public Areas, ATM/Cash Machine, Dry Cleaning Pickup / Laundry, Porter / Bellman, Room Service, Safety Deposit Box available at Front Desk, Secretarial Services.

Parking Information - 60 Parking Spaces, Complimentary Parking, Limited hotel guest car park on first come first space, no spaces can be prebooked, Off site secure 24 hour security car park for people wishing to leave their car whilst on holiday, you're requested to drive to your car park provider (details and map available from hotel) but will then be shuttled to the hotel and shuttled back on request to your car on return, Additional car parking is available at NCP1 on the Airport site, With hotel resident's proof of purchase you're able to get a 40% discount up to a maximum of 24 hours use, Discount is processed by reception staff on departure from hotel, Estimated price for 24 hours use is £5.20 based on current NCP pricelist.

Bedrooms in the Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport - More than 40% of the bedrooms offer Executive facilities in recently upgraded smoking and non-smoking bedrooms; All of the bedrooms have secondary and double glazing in the windows, which means that bearing in mind the 'Holidreamer' beds they have in the hotel, black out curtains and Pillow Menu you can expect a decent night's sleep!

7. Leisure facilities - The hotel offers complimentary leisure facilities off site at the local David Lloyd Centre, and access is by courtesy minibus taking about 5 minutes; This offers modern fitness facilities, racquet courts (tennis and squash), indoors and outdoor, swimming pool indoors and outdoors, and bar facilities; Children are allowed.

8. The Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport comes across as clean and classic, not meant to be charming but instead, just convenient (which is what many airport hotel frequenters normally long for).

The hotel uses high quality bed linens, excellent mattresses, and Neutrogena toiletries in the bathrooms give it an extra touch. Utterly spotless.

After a long flight or journey this is a real saving grace of a hotel. The restaurant service is stellar, the food not bad, and the rooms soothing & soundproof (even though the terminal is literally across the street!).

It's a very busy hotel full of business people, airline employees, vacationers & locals, but I can't recommend it enough.
