They want to get under your covers...

Under Your Covers Merchant City FestivalIt's that time of year again, the Merchant City Festival between 25th and 28th September, and at the moment I'm looking to work out how many events I can fit into the few days it's on.

One that's sparked my attention is Under Your Covers, the first ever Writers' Conference, which is being held in association with ONE Magazine.

OK, so on the face of it that might not sound quite as exciting as you might think, but events like this are a great unexpected addition to the explosive combination of theatre, visual arts, comedy, film, dance and music the organisers lay out for you on and around the cosmopolitan streets of one of the most fashionable areas in Glasgow.

Under Your Covers will be on 27th September from 12noon to 5pm, and will involve open forums, open mic readings, panel discussions, new titles, and some special guests which I can only imagine will be, well, famous writers...

One of the best things about this little event however, has to be that it's being held in my favourite place in the Merchant City, Arta, so that alone will ensure that I'll try my damndest to pop along.

Check out the link for more info, and let me know if you head along to it or any of the other events being held during the festival.

Spoke too soon...

OK OK, so I spoke too soon there.

The podcast is already available at the official blog. I'm pretty sure my feed's been updated (I like to keep it fed, ahem), so it should also be available to download directly from iTunes and so on.

I'd thought that because the first episode took so long to be available everywhere else I'd have the same difficulty with this one, but hey, what do I know?

Enjoy listening to it, well, as much as you can anyway...

Download Podcast Episode Two

The Second: "Glasgay". In this, the second episode of For the Love of G...lasgow, the official podcast of the Top Ten Glasgow Guide, we provide you with a slightly shorter, partial improvement on our last effort. It takes a while for us to get up to speed, then we ramble 'hilariously' on about the end of the Olympics, London 2012 and our united football team, the wacky intuition of our firemen and police force, why you'll enjoy Glasgow in the coming weeks if you're a gay sectarian geek, Alan's eBay success and his mysterious popularity with unknown ladies, and we also discuss folks who write or open messages in bottles. It really is a 'must listen' this time. Honestly!

I'm sure our 'listener' will be glad to know that it's now available for free download in the podcast section of the website. Just to make things clear though, from now on, because we're too cheap to spend money on a decent speedy host for the podcast, unfortunately each new episode will not be available on the official blog at fortheloveofglasgow.blogspot.com, or at iTunes or any of the podcast directories, until a couple of days after we've uploaded it.

However, you'll be ecstatic to know that the new episode will always be available first right here on the Top Ten Glasgow Guide. What can I say? I like to reward loyalty.

And remember, if you ever miss an episode, check out the Archives link in the podcast section of the site where you can download every old episode.

I'll let you know once the new one's available elsewhere.

Good listening...

Dine like a nomad at Khublai Khan Glasgow

The boys at Khublai KhanWell it's taken some time, but I've finally pulled out all the stops and done something on the site other than the podcast.

Here's a wee page on one of the top restaurants in Glasgow, Khublai Khan's Mongolian Barbeque in the Merchant City.

Learn all about why dining at this place is an experience unlike any other restaurant in the City, and why you'll be yearning to come back for more again and again...

Phew, this podcast stuff's hard work...

We're getting there, in fits and starts maybe, but we're definitely getting there.

The podcast has now been accepted into iTunes, so you can search for and subscribe to it directly from there if you'd prefer.

As before, please feel free to give us a five star review and subscribe to the podcast so that we start moving higher up the charts.

Hopefully the next episode recorded next week will continue the magic which no doubt dazzled you in the first one...(ahem).

Download it now, podcast episode 1 now released...

Jim in the Helman ProvinceThe First: "Apologies".

In this, the first episode of For the Love of G...lasgow, the official podcast of the Top Ten Glasgow Guide, we discuss amongst other things, pandas, the best and worst of the Olympics, the tragedy of life in Glasgow, our mate Jimmy fighting in some place called 'the Taliban', death by chips and cheese, and those crazy people who comment online.

We would like to apologise for any offence that may have been caused by such chat. We apologise for the length of the podcast. And for the sound quality. And for the fact that due to the remnants of a bad cold, Scott's voice sounds like Michael Jackson. Just, well, sorry.

We'll try better next time.

To download the first episode of our podcast, visit the link here and you can download it straight away, or subscribe via iTunes or Feedburner.

And once you've finished listening to our lengthy drivel, let us know what you think...

We're ready to rumble...

Well, the microphones have finally arrived and I've worked out, very slowly, how to record with at least one of them.

So the first episode of our For the Love of G...lasgow podcast will be done tomorrow night, all going well.

Jump over to the blog at Blogger to hear about my disturbing story about how I got my hands on the microphones last night, and check back soon for the first episode of the podcast.

The entire World of Comedy lies waiting in grim anticipation...

For the Love of G...lasgow - the excitement's buzzing

Hello again. This is just a note to let you know that ever since I started our little blog at Blogger, which is the separate but official blog for our up and coming podcast, I've been pretty overwhelmed with the response, the number of people happy to subscribe to the podcast for free even though we've not actually started it yet.

So please keep up with more of the same, but what Alan and I would really love to see is more comments on the blog, because we'd like to know what you want us to yap about, or simply anything you think is worth a mention.

So all you need to do is go to the blog, subscribe for free to the podcast if you like, and put up a wee comment using the link you see at the end of each post.

Thanks again, and I'll keep you posted with our preparations for the first episode...

I'm adding myself to Technorati - ouch...

Technorati Profile

It's been a long time coming, my introduction to the blogosphere, particularly given that it's taken me this long to work out what 'the blogosphere' actually is.

So anyway, Technorati have asked me to add this stuff into my blog to 'claim' it.

I'm hoping it's not too painful. Either way, once this process is complete you'll be able to access the Lobey Dosser Tribute Glasgow Blog at Technorati, yet another way for you to stay in touch with my nonsense...

Brand new Glasgow Podcast coming soon...

We'd be pleased to hear your comments, questions and thoughts at any point about the podcast or the City, and we may well mention your messages during our shows.

So get in there first and while you wait for me to work out how to operate a microphone, please help us get noticed online and subscribe to the podcast for free by -

Subscribe to the podcast at Feedburner.com

Help us climb the charts at iTunes

or even just keep up to date with our official podcast blog at Blogger

And please remember to comment on the podcast, as we really appreciate your thoughts, good or bad, and might even talk about them during a podcast!
